Evelyn Jeanette Hexom, age 78, of Janesville, WI passed away Friday, February 25, 2011 at UW Hospital in Madison. Evelyn was born in Edgerton, WI on November 20, 1932, the daughter of John and Borghild (Helgestad) Rude. She graduated from Edgerton High School in 1950. Evelyn married Russell W. Hexom on November 26, 1955 in the parsonage of East Koshkonong Lutheran Church. They resided in the Janesville area following their marriage until Russell retired in 1986 when they moved to Minocqua, WI. They returned to Janesville in 1999. Evelyn was a member of First Lutheran Church where she volunteered in the FLC women’s group. Evelyn was an active member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed gardening, watching the Packers, Badgers, Brewers and NASCAR, especially Matt Kenseth. Evelyn enjoyed making lefse and hosting the lefse parties. She loved traveling, especially a trip to Norway with her sister Carol and her long-time friend Arlene Nelson. Evelyn loved being with family and friends and her children felt blessed to have a wonderful Mom who will always be in their hearts.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Gloria Hexom of Janesville, Janice (Rob) Schuirmann of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Jerry Hexom of Orfordville; grandchildren, Nathan (Sarah) Hexom, Ted (Ashley) Hexom, Joe Hexom, Kevin Schuirmann, Megan Schuirmann; sister Carol Luiso; sister-in-law Barbara Jean Rude, brother-in-law Edward Long, aunt Agnes Goodrich, one great-grandson and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Russell; son Alan Hexom; brother Robert Rude; sister Clariet Long, brother-in-law Sal Luiso, father-in-law William Hexom, mother-in-law Nora Hexom and sister-in-law Frances Braun.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011 at First Lutheran Church, 612 N. Randall Avenue, Janesville. Pastor Naomi Garber will officiate. Visitation times will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 2^nd at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville and at the Church from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment will be in East Koshkonong Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church. Assisting the family is Henke-Clarson Funeral Home. www.henkeclarson.com.
